With all this time in the shop, are you generating much revenue these days?

On my 2014 Volvo after rebuilding engine 10 months ago I ended up replacing I believe 3 or 4 sensors that had to do with the DEF system. One after the other every few weeks on the road. Plan accordingly as I bet you will have the same issues. I had to limp back to shop before the rebuild and I think I ruined pretty much most of the sensors when I did that.

    Update.

Shop says DEF injector is partially clogged.

Gonna be a couple hours and a regen after that to fix/test.

A more complete answer. Because nothing has stopped me completely, I have been able to be picky about where I stop for service, calling shops to see how busy they are when I am 30 minutes from them.

As a result, I have not been stuck behind long lines of other trucks for service.

I have been running 14 hour days, and only managing about 500 miles per day. That's poor mileage for me. I would say I have lost 2-3 hours driving time every single day since I put the truck back on the road on Wednesday. On Wednesday I only managed about 400 miles.

Right, but when your business model is predicated on generating so many miles in a given month (based on your fixed rates with Crete) any volatility and disruption in that process, means you're just digging a deeper hole that's pretty hard to climb out of.

At least that's how it seems to me anyways.

You mean the DEF doser valve? They didn't replace that during the rebuild?

    Farmerbob1 Thanks this.

You're not wrong. At this point the repairs and lost time are putting me into the red in the short term.

Why would they replace part of the exhaust system during an engine rebuild? I am pretty sure they did not replace it.

Well, for one it's a good idea to stay ahead of the curve on those things.

Don't know about your engine model, but when I bought my Volvo new, the dealership provided me with a print out of Volvo's recommended service intervals. Here's a copy of their service intervals for the doser valve and DEF related parts.
