All it's going to do is let shippers and receivers put it in your ###.
17 hour days? lolLumper Humper, nredfor88, rachi and 8 others Thank this. -
Add options to the driver to work more without pay, the driver will always be screwed.
14 hours is a limit to help the driver.deathB4decaf, rachi, InTooDeep and 4 others Thank this. -
The 14 hour rule puts the pressure on shipper and receiver to load or unload or accept the load will be late. It's not perfect but did stop driver from sitting all day for free. Then driver would try and makup that time by driving
Drivers claiming they want flexibility. How about this. We will give you flexibility to stop 14 hour clock for shower or eating or nap. The catch is you can't extend your 14 hour day at the same place your loading or unloading. Maybe we should just make all time loading and unloading at On Duty time. We want make sure drivers and companies don't sit for free then make up for that by driving longer days. You can't have bothdeathB4decaf, LoSt_AgAiN, magoo68 and 3 others Thank this. -
How about mandatory hourly pay for anything on the on duty line. Let's see if they wanna stretch out my day any longer.

If it was just for the drivers benefit it could be ok. But you know the companies and shoppers will come to expect the drivers to use it to account for waiting for the truck to get loaded.

That's exactly what happens when we all had paper log books. Nobody cared how long loading or unloading took and they still expected the load to deliver on time. We had to make up for their problems. Now they care a little because the load will be late. The trucking companies care because they can't afford to have the truck sitting waiting for a new delivery time if it's something crazy.
I had late load like two weeks ago because shipper was late loading truck. The trucking company was saying I might have drop trailer someplace because a new delivery appointment would take like 3 days. We got luck and they took the load 6 hours late. The trucking company was made at the shipper not me. I had to run it legally all the way.Last edited: Aug 29, 2020

There is always two sides to the story. Off course it is good to be able to shut down at 1AM for a few hours rather than being forced to keep driving to the receiver at five AM because of the 14.
Of course shippers and receivers will try to get away with anything short of murder. In those cases “no”, is a very useful word.Long FLD, LoSt_AgAiN, sirjeff and 1 other person Thank this. -
If I get up at 4 AM, drive at 5AM, by 7PM that night, I am tired. I don’t want a longer day. A longer day will only benefit shipper/receiver by giving them more time to make you wait.
