So last night we were going through some old photos and I found some of my fathers old truck that he used to drive, it was a 99/01 international 4700. We were talking about it and I asked him if he double clutched or floated, and he said he always floated. I remember reading someone here that’s certain transmissions you have to double clutch and others you don’t. Is this one that you have to? I believe it was a 6sp

You can shift a straight 6 or straight 7 without using the clutch, as well as the Mack speed.

I believe the 4700 was a medium duty, and would have had the straight 7 speed( 6 speed with a L) and I think was a synchro trans so no floating was necessary. I only used the clutch to start and stop.
