Kill the motivation will you, I mean ever engine has it’s issues no matter the year as long as you find a solution for the emissions crap, I love the older engines but sometimes you find a good deal you have to take it.

kill the motivation will you, it’s okay all engine have there issues even tho the older engines are the best, but as long as you get rid of the emissions crap engine will run quick and smooth. So if you have the SDP are the problems major that your having and are they occurring. And what major problems should I be expecting.

I recently bought me a 2010 Kenworth W900 with a Cat C-15 Twin Turbo, I bought the truck from Canada and imported it already, now I haven’t changed the speedometer yet but I will or deleted the DPF crap yet, my question is when it comes to RPM when I drive 65 mph the rpm is over 1500 is that normal or is it because it’s a Canadian truck. I noticed the tires are not at Spec, also I have a flashing amber Regen light. Anyone had this problem, trying to understand the correct RPM for the MPH.

You bought a heavy spec truck, what does it say the rear end ratio is? I’m guessing 3.90. You’ll be stuck running 60 to 65 trying to keep your rpm’s down. You’ll probably be somewhat gearbound to lower speeds unless you get 3.36 or 3.55 rears in it, especially if you end up going to lo-pro drive tires to lower your 5th wheel.

When I worked for my old boss he got 3 trucks in late 04 that were some of the early Acert Cats. The drivers that were getting them got sent to a “class” in Missoula with a Cat rep to learn the ins and outs of the new engines. We were told to try and stay below 1600rpm because fuel economy was out the window with Acert above 1600. When I got a new truck in 09 with the same engine you’re speaking of now it was the same deal. We were set up for running 105k in the NW so we had 3.70’s and we’d end up riding around at 60-65 all day to keep the rpm’s down.

thank you so much for that wonderful info. Allot of people are addicted to allot of things I am addicted to horsepower if it’s not 500+ HP I won’t buy it, my other truck is a 04 565 hp. You need a truck capable to do any application sometimes you never know the future of what type of job your doing next.

If the DPF light is flashing, you are in for trouble. I no longer have access to Caterpillar's SIS web to check but with CAT, a flashing DPF light generally indicates that a regen is overdue. If you continue to run it without a regen, it will continue through the warning levels. At one point a regen will no longer be able to be started without CAT ET software. Then Caterpillar corporate will need to be involved with factory passwords. After that, the DPF will be trash and cleaning no longer possible. On the higher levels you will experience derate and eventually idle only and about 30 seconds of run time.

I’m just going by what we were told by Cat back in late 04. They said 12-1600rpm operating range. Even with the older E models we’d cruise 15-1600rpm. We had 3.70’s and tall 24’s.
