Had one of those days today. Got to Laurinburg, dropped my empty, checked with shipping to see what trailer got assigned to my load (since they sent it to me before one was assigned). Found my trailer, pulled the b/l and double checked...wrong friggin bills. Ok, will look for the other trailer number and see if mine are on it. It was one of the oldest Moore double drops still being used, went to tie down my tarp...and I had Pope John Paul tarp...by that I mean really holy. Hooked up, and the dash trailer ABS light was on. No biggie, sometimes they do that, it'll go out when the tires roll...which it didn't. So, when I parked outside the shop to check in...it decided to go out then, so they couldn't find a problem. They patched the tarp's many holes, I finished my tiedown and rolled out headed for Tuscaloosa. Got on I-95 and started seeing signs saying 'Incident at mm174, left lane blocked, expect delays'. Ok, I thought, only the left lane..it shouldn't be a problem...got just past the 181 - Latta exit, and hit a dead stop. 2 friggin hours to get past this
Someone said there was another truck involved, but I didn't see evidence of one. What you can't see from the pictures is, he started going off road before a bridge, pushed the guardrail off at an angle, then hit the bridge with the left tires hard enough to move the left side of the steer axle back to the fuel tank, move the left side drives back about 2 feet (the outside tires were back a ways, because it tore them off, as seen in the 1st pic) and rip the trailer tandems, carriage and all out of the slider rails. I didn't even make Atlanta before I said enough is enough for today...and called it a day early.

Talked to one of my fellow Wy-Moore drivers yesterday in Laurinburg. He said one of our other Wy-Moore drivers hauled a new size glass. He said the Laurinburg plant loaded 130 x 240 glass on a Wylie double drop...I bet that will be an epic fail if they're planning on doing that on a regular basis. Those Wylie trailers have issues with breaking 204's...now they're wanting us to haul glass 3 feet longer on them...and they thought they were having a lot of glass claims now. Just wait until they see how much of those mega-jumbo's make it unbroken. AGC in Spring Hill tried that years ago and found out that the glass can't support itself if it's being loaded and unloaded with slings. They were breaking more just trying to set it on the trailer. It takes the steel cage/rack type loader to load or unload glass that big, and I've only been to a half dozen customers that use them, and have never seen one in any of the plants. This should be interesting.
