Must be because the rates are up. I’ve had several calls in the last 3-4 weeks for last minute pickup where someone canceled.

When you find and work with good agents, it’s great. Actually enjoyable - even if the rates are average, or below spot market trends.

When you have to deal with the cut and paste muppets, it’s frustrating, time consuming, and encourages an adversarial mindset.

Good agents and drivers realize it’s teamwork. And a 24/7 industry.

The trash only look for 5pm, and their manicure after a hard week on the keyboard.

August is over. (Captain Obvious here)

    38,135 miles YTD

    $171,635.02 TTT YTD

    $4.50/mile all miles TTT

    68% Profit. 32% Expense.

3rd Quarter (so far) has pulled the all miles figure down - running at rates similar to my performance in 2017. You can't generate revenue from the porch, but I have to remember to try and maximize revenue by remembering I'm not working for round trip ++ rates. Still, I'm often impatient and the horses bolt for the barn once the wagon is empty. A few times this benefitted me - but that's up to the stars aligning just so.

Shooting for the barn (and hitting the outhouse) projection - Make $10k a month till year end and hit last years 1099 figure.

Shooting for the moon (and hoping to hit the barn) projection - Make $20k a month and exceed my best 1099 figure so far.

We'll see. I'm tossing around trailer options in my head, the chicken before egg argument bothers me some, and unfamiliar territory - but if you don't jump, you remain on the ledge.

It's been my understanding at Landstar It's not what you know, but who.

Who you know comes from how you perform.

What you know must simply be how to run a business, be professional and behave.

I could hand my little book of contacts to anybody, only to watch them screw it up royally.

I didn't say that's how it was at Landstar, I just said it's been my understanding. I've yet to run into a single individual that knows less about Landstar than I do, especially the people that have never worked there.

So I just let everyone talk, and I listen.

What percent of your loads are legal vs specialized stretched trailer?

Don’t want to lie to you - have to go back and look.

    Guessing 75% oversize, 25% legal.
