As I was climbing in my truck, noticed the manufacture sticker on my right, says this truck was manufactured in Mexico! Wow! I thought Freightliners are made here.

But guys who drive 'American iron' complain all the time on here about Volvos while also complaning that they can't park safely at China Mart (Walmart).

Here's my favorite though. You're looking at a screen right now. Doesn't matter the name, doesn't matter what it is. If it's a phone, computer, TV or any handheld communication device it was made in China. OK, ok, maybe a 1% chance it was made in Japan or Korea. Symantics. Buy 'Merican though.......whatever.

My information is a bit dated! At one time Freightliner ALSO had a Class 8 production line in Cleveland NC and a small truck line in Mt Holly, NC. This might be what you thought. Also, don't forget regardless of where the production lines are, there is a difference between an assembly line and where parts are made. I say this because Freightliner used to have a parts manufacturing facility just outside Charlotte NC. Again my information is old and may no longer be correct!

The Volvo VNM, VNL, VNX, VHD and VAH trucks are assembled in the United States at the New River Valley Plant in Dublin, Virginia, while Volvo engines for North America are assembled in Hagerstown, Maryland

The entire line of Mack products is still produced in Lower Macungie, Pennsylvania, and Salem, Virginia, with all powertrain produced in the Hagerstown, Maryland plant.

But of course people will by freightshaker cause its made in Mexico and thats how they getting that 20-30 000 dollars cheaper price...

For the most part that is accurate. There are some anomalies though. The Apple Mac Pro has been made in the US for years. Many of the components in electronic devices are made in the US. Examples are, much of the glass on phones, semiconductors from Intel and others, various ICs, and more.

As automation increases, it lowers the need to manufacture overseas. I believe there will be at least a partial resurgence of high tech manufacturing in the US. Security concerns also play a role in that need. For example high tech secure drones are made here.
