Cat 3406B peec engine won’t idle down while shifting

    Kind of stumped on what I have going on. while either upshifting or down shifting the engine will just hold rpm for awhile after you take your foot off the pedal which makes it very difficult to drive even if you try to double clutch. It will do the same if you just rev it while parked sometimes it takes 10+seconds to come down

    Check for air in the fuel to the injection pump.

    I’ll check that when I get a chance. I don’t know what exactly has been done to it prior to me owning it but everything seems to be in good working order other than this issue. It did at one point hang right around 1500 for close to 30sec

    I would look closely at the throttle position sensor and the rack sensor or BTM I believe they called it

    My Big Cam Cummins done the same thing...I changed the Fuel Filter and it fixed it ..

    Possible lost a governor spring if it is a 3406B
