W900 Aerodyne plastic model painting

I drunk-bought this last year. Hurricane Sally was the perfect time to pull this out and get my mind of the rising flood waters.

Please let me know how I can make the Cat 3406 engine more realistic. I just went off the pictures on the box and instructions.

Specific questions, what color is the firewall? Does it match the exterior paint color like every car and truck I’ve ever owned, or is it black?

What color is the underside of the hood? Same as exterior or black. And underneath side of the fenders.

Doesn’t the 5th wheel grease have a reddish black color?

I’m doing the orange with white body stripes paint scheme.

 

Lol. Too late on the yellow. Maybe that’s a reman.

Good tips on the rest, too. So what color would unfinished fiberglass be? White? Light grey? I can definitely do overspray.

Ha. I saw that hood and went with a light grey. I’m simulate rubberized undercoating in the fender wells as a compromise.

When mixing red and yellow to make orange, start with yellow and add red. Otherwise you run out of yellow before you get to orange. Should have asked my 1st grade teacher of a wife.
