Kao, I want to expand on this if you don't mind.

For OTR, my dispatch sends me a trip (load) plan. For some loads it has a varying window for pickup and delivery, for other loads it has a varying window for pickup but a hard time for delivery (or vice versa) and sometimes for other loads it's a hard time for both pickup and delivery.

For the loads that have varying time windows, I can do whatever I want to as long as my pickup and deliveries are within the established time windows.

So, if I understand you correctly with the part of your quote that I bolded, that's what you mean when you say you can "do whatever you want too", meaning that for the certain loads that have a varying time window you can do what you want to with your clock as long as you pick up and deliver on time.

Correct?

And, is LTL like OTR where you have both varying window times and hard times? Or just variable times? Or just hard set window times? Or it depends?

And what does "central" mean, is that the Estes equivalent for Dispatch/Load Planner/Driver Manager?

Central is your dispatcher. When you start your week you call in to see if your planned. Say they tell you Memphis. You go in load truck up hook up and go. Get to memphis drop your going to hotel.


Hour before your 10 is up call central tell them who you are ask are you lined up yet. Say they tell you kansas City head in. Grab shower and go. Once at kc they may say go to bed. Repeat process. They may send you to Indy off your 10. When you get there you say I got 3 hours the terminal will call for you they may send you to Louisville to put you to bed. There is no window. Faster you get to terminal more miles you get in for day

It's not like otr where you got 800 miles over 3 days and you just take your time. Harder you run bigger the. Check at Estes. Save hours keep door closed could get you short run end of day vs being put to bed with 4 hours left

Either one you will make same if not more running SOLO. They really are low on pay scale here vs everyone else. You get on at big E them hotel points add up quick!
