Sounds like I might as well have.
"Yo, PPDCT, that truck I had lined up for you out of TX coming here to NJ, where's he at? I'm having truck issues all over the place, and need at least one piece of good news." "He'll be there today by noon. What's going on with you?" "...OH LET ME TELL YOU." "...OH shi-"

"...You should probably check with PPDCT."
"Wait what?"
"We've been working with him for three years."
I glance up as I hear JJ mentioning my name. "Oh. Yeah, I'll ask PPDCT about you." He hangs up. "...Hey man, what can you tell me about X?"
"I can tell you to go look at the loadboard and see the load I'm delivering to them. ...The hell are you doing, and who did you just talk to?"Dino soar, D.Tibbitt, Dale thompson and 4 others Thank this. -
Put truck in shop today for periodic maintenance. End of the month, end of the quarter is a good time to get it done.
Even though Volvo recommends DPF cleaning at 500k (I'm at 448k miles & 10k hours) I decided to get it done now since I wanted them to change out belts, some hoses, etc.
I have been vacillating on whether to buy a new truck or keep mine past the 5 year period which is at the end of November. After checking on trade values and a sudden jump in new prices, I've decided to hold off and explore my options until next year. Truck will be free and clear at the end of this year. With the trailer paid off, that's a nice bonus. I can get really lazy! LOL
I've taken meticulous care of the truck, having all the recommended maintenance intervals done accordingly. To be honest, it runs like a top. Good power and a consistent 7.26 mpg over the lifetime of the truck. Which is pretty decent considering the weight and hills I run.
So, for now I'm kicking back and relaxing. Grandkids are over...again. What's new?Dino soar, D.Tibbitt, Midwest Trucker and 4 others Thank this. -
this truck should not give you major headaches for another year or two.
Maybe by then, and most likely yes, we'll go through another low rate wave or 2 even and equipment will be priced better.
Although with all the printed money in circulation now, it is hard to say what prices will be then. If it runs good, I would not trade it yet either. Nice not to have payments for a change too.Dino soar, D.Tibbitt, Scooter Jones and 1 other person Thank this. -
Wishing @TallJoe a full recovery.

They pulled the DPF and sent it into a cleaning specialty shop. The service writer got back with me and said the filter was pretty clean and did not require baking, only needed to be blown clean on a special machine that's used. The DOC is in good shape, etc. That's a good sign for an emissions truck with 448k miles on it with roughly 10k hours. I will say that my idle average is pretty good at 20% lifetime.
I was talking to a driver from Iowa whose company had just bought a used 2015 truck last week and it was in the shop for a butt-load of repairs. He showed me the repair estimate and it was obvious to me that truck had not been maintained. The estimate was $18,000.
A "good price" on a used truck is not necessarily a "good deal". I looked at the miles/hrs on the estimate, it had 525k miles and 23k hrs on it! Talk about idling, man.
Unfortunately, for me, this means I will have to go back to work...at some point -
Well hell. This was a really great week for a lot of reasons. I’m very thankful. Broke many records in the business and home life had many great happenings. I’m starting to feel like @Scooter Jones

Just filed my ucr, maybe it was because of the time of day, but the website was clunky. I got to the payment page and it wouldn’t go any farther. I had to finish with my phone.
