Super Sleeper gents, I need your wisdom

    Good evening yall,
    I dove into owner operator life about a year ago and I've really fallen in love with driving. As a 31 year old in the industry I have pride in my truck and myself and I am always pushing to go higher and further. I manage my money well and I am currently begining my savings journey to purchase a super sleeper in about 2 years. I have a few questions I wanted to address and I haven't been successful finding them on the web.
    1. Do the weight per axle regulations change with the steer and drive with a super sleeper?
    2. My current idea is to get the biggest super sleeper I can while hauling a 48 foot conastoga, what wheel base is practical with this set up that wouldn't cause major issues. I plan on still running all 48 states while obviously not venturing into tight places such as NYC or Jersey. Is it practical or doable to take a super sleeper into those areas with a 48 foot trailer?
    3. What is the fuel economy like in a super sleeper as compared to a standard freightliner?
    4. How much can you load on your trailer personally? What is the realistic expectation for max load with these trucks?

    1. No your still regulated the same with weight

    2. I run mostly jersey/New England with a 218/242 wb trucks & 53s and yeah obviously some places are tight but doable. Use your head while trip planning, try to stay out of NYC but in short it's doable.

    3. I don't run that setup but I'd imagine it's not a huge difference. +/- 10%

    4. Idk maybe 42k or so in that range.....blair will chime in

    Thank your for your input, I would probably run a higher wheel base closer to 300 which is why I would pull a 48 Conastoga instead of 53.

    If it's any help to you last year I ran my uncle's truck when he was sidelined from medical issues. 280in wb classic all around the North East w/o any issues. You just gotta wiggle some more getting into a tight dock :p

    I have 2 friends pulling 53 reefers with 10-11 foot sleepers on a 379 and W9, i don't know the exact wheelbase. One of them runs Wisconsin to FL, the other runs FL to Cali, they can still scale 42,000, or run your fuel as low as possible. Since you are planning to pull a 48', you should be good.

    Get a set back axle 14,000 rated, a light weight trailer ang go to work.

    mine is just 285”, 53’ trailer with axles fixed to the rear, 4 inch ground clearance, can’t jump curbs, but I’ve delivered every load.
    But you piss a lot of people off trying to turn, and backing in truck stop parking can be a challenge. But you adjust too it

    120” sleeper, 320” wheelbase - with a 53’ flat - I’m 80’ overall length, 35k empty.

    Drive straight, turn late.

    And I know a guy with a beautiful truck for sale.
