I don’t know, maybe I’m wrong, but the standard two week notice doesn’t really apply when quitting an OTR job? Any tips and advice how to do it without burning a bridge.
it’s been three years now. I’ve worked for the same company right out of school. Logged 405,000 incident free miles. I’d rate my company a C for how they treated me well. The first year and a half without question I was taken advantage of and ripped off in various ways or manipulated until I figured out how to stand up for myself and know their BS when it was happening (mostly dispatch stuff most of you all know about) but overall, I made a decent income and was treated fairly. I would not do the first 18 months again with this company knowing what I know now.
I’m thinking to make my way back to the yard soon after hours, wipe down the truck, document it’s condition via video and photos, leave keys in the office etc and send a farewell message over the Qualcomm. Am I leaving anything out?

Take photos and videos of everything. Back it up with a personal email with a read receipt vs just Qualcomm. My whole thoughts on two weeks notice changed due to my previous job. They don’t owe you anything and you don’t owe them anything. I don’t care how old school someone is anymore. Cover your own ###.

Why not do it in person in broad daylight?

My opinion, atleast go in face to face and tell them ur leaving. Quitting over phone or text is kind of a cop out , and disrespectful.

Don't need a two week notice. Properly turn the truck in and leave.

I do agree with doing it in daylight in person. You can offload the truck down the block into personal or rental car, walk in and hand over the keys. What I mean by the photos and video is documenting for yourself the condition of the equipment. Also have written notice however you choose.

Call in sick, once all money owed for recent work is payed then quit. Guarantee they won’t give 2 weeks notice to fire a driver
