Trapped. Lineage Logistics in RVA. Tiny. Tiny. Tiny. One of those drop your mty. Pull out the loaded. Drop your loaded. Put the mty in same door. Deals. This place has zero room. Ugh. Waiting game for this guy to get loaded or unloaded so I can complete the mission. It’s my Friday. You’d think with the BS I’ve dealt with all day it was my Monday. SMDHMidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome and Bumper Thank this. -

Before "deregulation", Trailways could run certain places where Greyhound could not and vice versa .
One of the worse accident that Carolina Trailways ever had was on 10. On a real foggy night, with a load of sailors, driver missed a curve and overturned. No one was killed but one sailor had brain damage and the outcome he became a "vegetable". -
Had the day off yesterday for a dentist appointment. DM told me on Wednesday that he'd set me up with a load assignment on Thursday for when I got back in the truck on Friday.
And sure enough, he did! Right around 5:00pm yesterday I got a load assignment: Bobtail over to the Bunge plant in Sandston, pick up a load of margarine, and take it to Indianapolis. Due tonight at 7:00pm for a live unload.
Well that's a nice run. GPS estimates a total drive time of 10hrs 45min. I'll probably shave a little bit off that. Shouldn't have a problem making on-time delivery if I leave out at 6:00am, which is my preferred time to start my driving day.
Bobtailed to the shipper, hooked the pre-loaded trailer, and headed out.
An hour down the road, I got a message on my Qualcomm informing me that the receiver had rescheduled the delivery appointment. So now instead of it being due in Indianapolis tonight, it's due in Indianapolist Sunday morning at 10:00am. Dispatch wanted to know if I wanted to stay on the load or turn around and bring it back to the yard to get something else.
By that point I figured that any benefit I got from turning around for another load would be counteracted by not getting paid for two hours of driving (since the load assignment would just show me driving to Sandston and back). I probably coulda argued with 'em to get paid for those out-and-back miles, but I figured I would just stick with the devil I knew. So I stayed on the load and am now parked for the day at the Pilot in Staunton after putting in 147 miles for the day.
Don't have a beef with dispatch in this case. They gave me the choice of going back for another load and I turned 'em down, so that's on me. But I was appreciative that they asked me what I wanted to do.MidWest_MacDaddy, Lonesome, Barn Door Bill and 1 other person Thank this.
