Remounting mirrors on 97 379EXHD

    Couple weeks ago a buzzard decided it wanted to commit suicide on my driver side mirror.

    I got the jack nuts and fixed it across the bottom and everything was good. Until I closed my door yesterday and the top of the mirror broke loose from the door.

    I’m trying to reattach the mirror but I’m not sure how to do it without drilling a hole completely thru the top of the door frame and attaching nuts from the inside of the cab. I’ve seen it done and it looks like crap.

    I’ve searched for answers and found companies using huck rivets but I don’t have a huck gun.

    Anyone got any ideas?

    Can't think of the name, but any truck place (KW, Pete,etc), sell a brass piece with threads, out casing is rubber. When you screw into it with your brackets they expand for a tight seal.
    I used a few on my hopper wind straps, been holding for few years now.

    Steel Riv-nuts and stainless button head cap screws. Make sure you use a good anti-seize on the bolt threads for future removal without spinning the riv-nut in the door.

    I bought a set of Peterbilt jacknuts for the bottom bracket on the door.

    For the top I bought 1/4” rivets. You have to use a big rivet tool to put em in. Tool was $400 at the parts store, but one of the guys that worked at the store had the tool. Gave him $20 to bring it by my house to put the top rivets in.

    They are regular blind rivets, not the Huck Rivets.

    Regular rivets won't last. Even closed rivets.

    Mono bolts will. Like a threaded rivet but way stronger. Even can get shinny ones, most trailer shops have them and have a complete seal.
