The answer to your question depends on how theyre moving right now in regards to you. I was working for a small guy, but i was grabbing my last load getting ready to go home and not come back. We had planned for me to be home for at least a few days as opposed to the 2 days i usually get.

As im sitting at the dock (irrelevant, but i was sat at that dock trying to get loaded for a full 10 freakin hours. I was so mad but still cordial and polite with him) anyways hes pressuring me about when im getting back on the road and i just flat out told him as politely as can be that this would be my last load with them. Needless to say he still owes me a little over $1000 for that week which ill never get of course.

A few weeks later turns out he shut the business down. He was based out of Atlanta and a few of his drivers were not. Some honestly didnt have anywhere else to go they were living in the truck. They ended up getting told the bad news back at the yard in Atlanta and got left high and dry. Not sure whether they got paid or not

I think you get the jist. I hope this helps

Tell you what id had done differently, i should have waited until i got paid first, made sure i was home or close by or something so i didn't get my fuel card cut off and left standed... it gets kinda tricky. Its all based off of how theyre operating. If they're as greedy and selfish as that guy was, i would think hard about it if i were you just to minimize the ####ry as much as possible

I would empty my truck first, put all my stuff in a storage unit, go to the terminal to surrender the truck, rent a car, drive to storage unit, load all my stuff and then going home.

My load went on the way to the house so I just packed everything in my car and dropped it off at the house. Heading to my delivery for the morning and then dropping the truck off at the terminal. Getting a rental car from there.
