I really liked the SD122 my company used to have me driving before I got my Pete, but it sure was heavy.

Not trying to be "that guy," but the irony of seeing a bottle with "HD5" written on the side parked at a Y-grade lease is not lost on me.

Yeah, I know that's the name of the company, but that's not what's inside the wagon.

I had a feeling that picture would attract your attention.
That particular route we hauled that stinky condensate from Carthage - Pic was taken in Beaumont , where we dropped it off.

Well, your name isn't Ken or Pete. Its Robert. He didn't say no Roberts, so of course you wouldn't be offended or feel discriminated against.

Like I said, I didn't read the thread and I don't know a Ken or Pete, but Im sure they wouldn't appreciate the bias.

I second Volvo....many drivers crap on Volvos because the brand. They are durable, powerful, and smooth. To me, people go with Pete's, KWs, Western Stars, and certain Freightliners because of a look and sound. I would also throw Mack in the conversation too.

I wasn't overly impressed by the Volvo I did my road test in. Lots of cheap plastic and everything rattled. The FL Classic I drove was older but much better put together. The Kitty under the hood pulled better than that Volvo engine too.

I would never own my truck I have that option from my retired uncle he can't drive due to illness he has 2 left when he used have a fleet one was mack other was the KW he had a Pete but he sold for med bills. I dont mind a work truck like Mack that really all they are they were never good inside but the engines lasted that's why my uncle loved them out of all the trucks he owned he said macks gave him less breakdowns drivers complained not comfortable though him coming from army he thinks all you need is a bed in there ac and heat. both trucks need a lot of love and money get working they have been sitting I know one will turn over aside from that idk seems like a money pit. If I want a money pit that pit best be driving me across water to my fishing hole....

We still have a few old Volvos in our fleet, and everything rattles - everything that hasn't already fallen off, that is. The turning radius absolutely sucks. The only good thing about them is that they take off pretty quickly.

The ride quality was pretty decent.

Their old Volvo Autocar vocational trucks were as tough or tougher than the old Western Stars though. Not sure how the VHD holds up. A few outfits on Vancouver Island use them in logging so they can't be that bad.
