Ughmm, the ELD measures on/off work hours ..

I want to be paid by:

  1. the mile (like a neanderthal)

  2. the hour (like an office monkey)

  3. neither, I just wish I was dead, #### off and leave me alone

    So why are you still getting paid by the mile? If anything, with the ELD's we now have a firm evidence tracker that OTR should be paid by the hour, or perhaps full work-day. Who's up for starting a riot?

    Heres your 9 dollars per hour minimum wage . Enjoy it.... Some of u guys complain about stuff and cant see the bigger picture consequences of it... cheap companies are always going to be cheap no matter how they pay you... there is plenty of companies out there that care about their drivers and pay them what they are worth. Quit working for cheap companies and the wages would go up... tell me which one pays more ? 25 an hour at 10 hours per day. Or .50 a mile at 500 miles per day ?

    I'm down with starting a riot and I don't even care what for. I just have a couple of questions; are coffee breaks paid and when do benefits start?

    Oh yeah, good companies pay for everything. We paid our drivers percentage, but we also paid waiting, breakdown, etc.

    $25 an hr will pay more ''most'' of the time.
    I know you mean it in simple math terms but mileage is not that simple.

    Even using $9.00 min wage an OTR would be better off getting paid min wage from punch in to punch out. It's ALL part of the job.

    I don't want the pay cut ill take my percentage made a little over 500 today vs you 9 dollar a hour for 14 might as well take a factory job at lest then you would get overtime

    can you make 500 every day. 7 days a week?

    Overtime would apply to the $9 if applicable.

    Depends on the hourly rate.
    I'll stick with mileage rate as it is higher than my hourly rate that i am payed whenever my wheels stop turning

    I do line haul pin to pin. Yesterday I did a drop in the city due to holiday,,FRIST DELIVERY in 25 years,,,that is my annual favour to the company and they know it:D

    Yes if we stop being undercut by bottom feeders could make more but I can make 300-400 more reliable on a daily base and be home that night/morning
    And trucking companies do not have to pay over time your more likely gonna get straight pay. And I said 14 hour because that the legal time you can drive with in a day but I x

    Some valid points made above ^^, instead of quoting them each I'll just make my summer here.

    $9/hr or "minimum wage" (your state/province variable) would apply for off-duty or sleeper-birth provisions. However for an on-duty or driving status, a proper and valid wage should apply. For simplicity let's assume $25 @11+3hrs in a daily cycle. Total for that is $350, plus the off-period pay let's assume $9 for 10hrs. Making a daily total of $440. A driver would have to travel 880 miles at .50cpm to assume that amount. Firstly illegal as anything over 660 daily miles per day is questionable to DOT (11hrs@60mph). And secondly most OTR days are too inconsistent. Most company drivers would see a decent pay hike with an hourly pay method. But go ahead, change my mind, maybe I'm just lucid dreaming.

    Why do so many drivers think they will be paid less if the industry goes to hourly pay? Are they saying they'll accept a lower wage?
