Made it to the customer in Houston with a couple of hours to spare only to find the road blocked by rail cars. I called the number on my travel order to find out if there was another way into the plant. No go so I ate lunch and waited about an hour until the tracks cleared. Got into the plant and set up where they wanted me. I then discovered that I didn't have enough 3" hose on my trailer. The local guy who loads the trailers usually puts what you need on the trailers. He picked this tank up at a tank wash. I saw lots of hose on it and thought I had what I needed. I wound up having to leave, grab a hose from our Pasadena terminal and come back to unload.

That cost me about 3 hours of my time but will end up being a blessing in disguise. I am planned on a load to Newell WV. Its 1380 miles and was sitting on the yard when I got there. I only had 27 hours left on my 70 and could get there no problem. The load delivers Monday and I would be out of hours after the delivery. My truck needed some work so I decided to do a 34 hour reset here at the terminal and head out first thing in the morning. That also lets me avoid Friday rush hour traffic. I should be able to make some good time on Saturday and Sunday. Won't get home for the weekend but the money should be pretty good. I will have around 2800 miles plus 20 hours of layover/accident/truck repair.

Can't complain so far or at least it wouldn't do me any good.
They seem to be keeping me busy for the most part and still gettin me home when I need. Superior seems to be a pretty decent company to work for, and we seem to keep pretty busy at least out of the High Point terminal, And from what I can figure truckins truckin is all in what u make it. I see you had a nice little fender bender, But at least it turned out as good as it did it could have been a lot worse. we will TTYL

Yeah I am glad I wasn't in the truck when it happened. That would have been a hell of a way to wake up. Guess that's another advantage of tank yankin. Would have been a whole different story with a box. I might still be dealing with it. As it is all it did was add about 6 hours of local pay to my check.

I think Carlo left because of some personal issues. He had some deal where he worked out of one terminal but would get regular freight to Florida(?) so he could see his child. I think it was one of them off the books type deals that you can make during good times, but are hard to keep during tough times.

Thinks have tightened at Superior. Running 50/50 on loaded/mt. MT pays 18% less. Health insurance went up 62%. A big hitter was no more tank wash pay. More and more freight is being designated as dedicated- less opportunity to get out in the system and make money, less layover/dispatch delay pay, less sleeper berth pay, more time at the home terminal waiting in line for a dispatch.

Overall, Superior is a good company. But, in my opinion it has slipped a few notches in the last couple years. A couple years ago it was a coveted job that made the mini-size sleepers acceptable. Coming from TMC your will definitely be in for creature comfort surprise.

WOW - the crooked umps just tried to give another game to the Yankees. Ruled the runner at 2nd safe of a routine double play ball.

Oh, we all make about the exact same at Superior. There can't be a hill of beans difference between the top driver and the new hire. You could make big bucks here, if they weren't so anal about always pointing you back to your home terminal. During the Summer they'll use you like a drunken sorrority girl, the rest of the year all you need is an overnight bag.

    Good luck.

When I first started with Superior I had one of the older "flat blue" Internationals. It scared the hell out of me. Going down the road and tank two would drain out, buzzers and lights. But tank one would always be full - so no real problems (but i didn't know that!).

I took it to the TA at the 232 on I80 in the Keystone. They "fiddled" with it for an hour or so and said it was good to go. I wasn't ten miles down the road and it did the same thing. I called a 30-year driver friend of mine. He told me to fill up air lines with air-guard (anti freeze/rust guard). Stretch the hose all the way and hold the glad hand high, fill it all the way up, shake and add more until it overflowing. For a few weeks i would dump more air-guard in everytime I dropped a trailer. The problem went away.

"I was tankwashed to the Cincinnati terminal for the night. I like this terminal. Its not in the slums and there is a sports bar within walking distance with good food and lots of good looking women. They also tend to get you out pretty quick."

10-4 to that. I like the Cincinnati terminal, the area, and the people that work there. Ronnie is heck of a good guy, and one of the best dispatchers in the Company. If only he would drive us over to Hooters and pick up the tab. Then he would be the crème de la crème;-)
