Wifi in a truck for gaming and laptop?

If your concern is about high speed internet and long lasting battery you to invest in Apple 12. It might seem a bit expensive spending 850 dollars on a cellphone but it is definitely worth it in the long run. You get the latest generation of the Apple product, and can do everything with it pictures videos gaming and wifi sharing is rly good too.

 

I got a pixel 5 and rooted it. Now I can get 5G AND tether unlimited. No apple crap for me thanks.

 

Aren't internet plans unlimited these days?

 

Many are, but not tethering to other devices. There a few 3rd party carriers that are unlimited hotspot, but I haven't given them a chance so I can't comment.

 

Unlimited “data” yes but at what speed? I have a few data sources in my truck so I’m able to bounce between them or use them at different times during the month so I’m not slowed down too slow... and I’m not a gamer.

 

Hopefully We start seeing other options very soon.

That skylink looks interesting. The system of thousands of little satellites in low earth orbit looks promising... they are rolling out their “better than nothing” beta plan for those up north... the only area with 100% coverage so far. It’s not “mobile” yet but I can’t see why it wouldn’t be mobile ready at some point, all those satellites are constantly moving around over head and not in stationary orbit, why can’t the end user on earth be moving too.

anyway, the beta testers were $500 for the equipment and $99/mo... my current cellular option cost me $200 for equipment and about 100/mo too... plus I’d get faster service too.

I’d jump just to push the tech forward.

The problem with the satellite is 150 mbps i think it was. Cell phones will be much faster.

 

Maybe I’m confusing something but I think I only get 50 Mbps on a good day from cellular... but 5G will probably be faster once it rolls out and becomes a more stable option... but for me, at this time, 150 Mbps would be an improvement and still meet my current needs.

Well, until 6G comes out... lol

 

I have sprint and pay $10 for 100 GB hotspot
