    Hello I am not for if this is the correct place for this question, but I have a new driver that is unable to take his road test due to long waits and covid restrictions.
    My question is for the 2-3 weeks we wait for him to test again what are the restrictions for driving.
    If anyone knows the fmcsa page and section id be happy to read it im just having issues finding what I need.
    I know he can drive within HoS with me in the passenger seat, correct? On that though. How long after my 14 can I sit in the passenger seat with him Driving and be legal, I remember 2 hours sticking in my head from back when I was training.

    Zero. If he is on a learners permit your time in the front seat is in attendance of him, meaning it is all on-duty time. The best you can do is use up his 11 hours and then switch to you driving for the last 2 hours of the 14.

    You are thinking of the team rules that allow a driver to spend up to two hours off duty in the front seat either immediately before or after their driving shift. That does not apply because you must be there to watch his driving or his permit is not valid so you are on duty the entire time he is behind the wheel.

    As for testing, most states will allow you to go to another state to take the skills test. I suggest finding a third party examiner site, they usually can get you in quickly, pay the fee and get him tested. Then go back to his home state and get his license issued.
