It may be a worry for nothing, because you may very well get a guy coming from the other end who actually cares, but it's enough to where I'd personally prefer to do layover runs.

True, but that's how I'd rather work if I did linehaul on a regular basis.

This is solid gold advice. I hated when Saia would cut me to send me the Bloomsbury, NJ meet. Harrisburg sups sent drivers with inadequate HAZMAT paperwork and the driver that I would meet would never pretrip his truck or force HBG to give him proper hazmat paperwork.

That driver has given me sets of trailers with:

No mud flaps on the kite
    No brake lights
    No turn signals
A lead trailer that the ram doesn’t extend in place on the dolly eye
Service brake line closed from the lead to the dolly
Lead trailer 4K over on the drive
Kite heavier than the lead by 9k pounds

I mean, why should he have given a ####, I was the one taking the set through NYC over the GW and through CT.

You’d think after the first time I refused his trailers someone would keep an eye on him.

The problems that I could fix I did, and kept moving, the ones I couldn't, I refused to pull the load.

Guy still works there from my understanding... I guess the company's way of combating turnover is not firing people that SHOULD be fired.

But when that happened, what was the resolution?

Did they have to send road service out to fix the issues?

Or did you guys just say forget it and go the rest of the way?

Guys who just feel free to pull straight into the yard without checking in at the office first. We're trying to work and move stuff around now your 75' of truck is in the way.

And LTL guys who don't carry a pallet jack.

    alds Thanks this.

I back up to the gate at places like that, to one side so people can still get in and out. If it works for them, it works for me.

We had one guy who refused to take a pallet jack with him. That was his way of milking the clock as long as possible to keep his workload down.

dwells40, Cardfan89 and AModelCat Thank this.
