Anyone on this forum ever do strange, but safe, things to a home you're selling?
I did.
Lived in a beautiful two story home in a cul-du-sac.
Only way to access the attic is a small opening in the master bedroom closet. Difficult to reach; need a step ladder and have to move stuff off the shelf to see it.
I disassembled a bicycle and took it into the attic, then reassembled it, then tied it to a 2x6 that's part of the attic structure. That was years ago and I guess it's still there.
When the house sold, the home inspector didn't find it.Last edited: Nov 25, 2020

Construction workers have been known to leave objects inside the walls and other inaccessible spaces for time immemorial.
A former truck driver probably worked on the construction site of this condo.

One place I lived, the whole community was having termite problems.
Never seemed to end, even after being treated.
Finally, discovered wood construction debris under the front porches. They'd throw the wood scraps there, then put a concrete slab over it.Doealex, JC1971 and Lumper Humper Thank this. -
Personally I love secret passageways. Don’t see them all that often though.
I have a video of a cool way to hide a safe but I guess it’s too big to upload.Chinatown Thanks this. -
My buddy built a saferoom in his house last year. It's hidden so well you'd have to measure the house and each room to find the missing square footage.

When me and my fiance bought our house we always noticed a manhole on our walkway into our back door. We always thought it was for city water access because that's what it said on the manhole. What went right over our heads is the fact that we have well water and a septic tank, no city anything. I got curious and opened it up one day and it appeared to be some kind of fallout shelter at one time. There's a ladder going down and a bunch of shelves, concrete walls and a concrete floor. The house was built in the mid 40's. I'd love to know what it was used for and what was kept there

Might be a bomb shelter added in the 50s or early 60s. Anyone else remember "duck and cover"?
