There is a wood plant in Lawrenceville(?) that uses an autotarp system. The kids do a great job, probably better than I'd do, and the ends are well strapped. I hate the idea of putting straps over the tarps, but that's their system. I've seen guys pull out, strap up, then get back in line to get tarped. I don't like volunteering that much of my time. I do put bungees on anyway. Just a me thing.

The loads are easy on the tarps, so I don't mind it so much. I agree, it looks tacky, but it gets me a load to run.

Lumber with auto tarps is the cat's meow.

I'd load, tarp, strap also. I'm not going through the line twice.

Was a long time ago, down in Mississippi, lumber yard we loaded at had prisoners that did all strap and tarp on loads. You put all your gear on the deck, pull into the fenced area. Get out, lock doors, have officer walk truck, go in waiting room. They were fast. Like 45 minutes and done. They did good work.

There's a few companies that will lay your tarps down on the load for you. They don't want you climbing on top.

It's up to you to position those tarps. Which shouldn't be a big deal.

The best answer is, don't haul anything that needs tarps. Threw mine away years ago, it doesn't pay.
