Did my first “Blind Load” today.

That's what I experienced with "blind loads". Many times, coming off the rail, the receiver was not the destination. We made out our own BOL anyway, "1 trailer load of freight ,all kinds".

 

Usually a blind load has to with politics.
Customer doesn't want to buy directly from a certain manufacturer, so it is made to look like it was made at another plant.

Sounds like these two outfits have one of those contract manufacturing agreements that are so common in the world of dry goods.

 

You want to hear about a blind load.... a big percentage of wisconsin cheese isn’t made in wisconsin.... went into it blind... got blindsided, and then they don’t tell the public

 

Made in CA, aged in WI, shipped back to CA as WI cheese.

 

My only blind load was in California. Agent told me to lie to the shipper about the destination.

I called corporate and ask wtf? I said, " Since when do we start lieing to the customers.?"

I told the truth. Shipper was pissed. Dunno whatever happened to her.

 

Don't know why some get upset with blind loads. Do hundreds of them a year.

 

If you call being shipped to wisconsin for final packaging aging... then yes....won’t say a name but I’ve been to 4 different milk plants of a companies that has a gigantic grocery contract and they all told me the same thing.. its made somewhere else, shipped to them in its plastic consumer packaging. It comes to them they take it out of the box put it in it’s distribution box...that the process that was explained to me
