Personally, I just roll my eyes when I hear anything even remotely related to "hey, I failed my drug test, BUT..."

    Sure. Ok.

My last orientation we had this guy, failed his pre-emp follicle screen for meth. Claimed as the tech was wrapping his sample in foil for placement in the envelope, someone came in the door, and a windgust blew his sample on the floor, etc. His wife's a tweaker, he says, but not him. Ok, Mikey, whatever. There are SO many ridiculous holes in stories like this, that they aren't even worth the time it takes to read them.

    6 weeks driving experience.

She got a job, took a pre employment drug test and passed. Rode with the trainer, and was issued her own truck and failed an unexpected random, the very first random, a few weeks after getting signed off. Blames it on a lost prescription. Lemme guess...medical marijuana.

If she had proof of the SAP (they should have signed off on her), she may have to see if one of those Chicago Russian 1099 outfits will give her a chance. If they won’t, she’s SOL.

Sounds to me like she had a legit prescription, but used the meds well after they were prescribed.

This sounds plausible, as I think I still have a full script of unused oxycodone from a few years ago. I’m thinking if I popped a few and got a random, it probably wouldn’t end well.

I’d at least show proof that it was prescribed. It’s the only card I could play. But in this situation, it sounds like it’s way too late (post SAP).

Companies that used to hire SAP graduates, aren't hiring them anymore.
My guess is, the insurance companies are putting pressure on the trucking companies with jacking up the insurance rates for SAP graduates.
One company used to advertise for SAP graduates, but now will just hang up the phone if one calls.

That's not true. I've seen people come on here, give a brief rundown of their situation, and china comes on with a half dozen companies.

    Not quite.

She worked for 6 weeks for a company that ran teams. She couldn't deal with someone else in the truck so she resigned and got hired on with May Trucking. During the 2 weeks she was out of work she took an old pain killer from a previous prescription because she pulled her back working in her yard. She didnt know when she'd get a job again and wasn't going to suffer. She said she took a single pill a single time. A week later in the pre emp drug screen she pisses dirty.

She said the prescription is over 3 years old from a previous back surgery. If she would abuse drugs she wouldn't have any left. She has a point. She also has a point that she passed a previous drug screen just weeks earlier so obviously she hadn't been taking anything.

I'm not here to judge her on whether she's ############ me on some of this, all of this or none of this. I'm just trying to get her some possible companies, which I think china for getting her.

A week later, it is not very likely it would show up in a drug test. Oxy/hydrocodone is normally out of your system in 3 or 4 days.

Respectfully!! The half-life of hydrocodone is measured in hours not days. On average it takes about 4 hours to flush half out of the body. This brings me back to 40.87 and the table. In the case of an official DOT urine test, to test hot for hydrocodone you would almost have had to have taken a dose within 6 hours of that test I say 6 hours as a conservative figure, my gut tells me it's more like 3 hours.

I have spoken to people that know how this process works many times. There are some things that can affect detection after taking hydrocodone. Traces can be found in the blood, spit, and urine for several days this is true. HOWEVER, for the purposes of the DOT most of the time those traces are under the cutoffs found on that table I linked to after about 3 to 4 hours. Remember, it's not if you have hydrocodone analyte's in your body! It's what that concentration is. This is why that poppy seed thing is not a myth. What is a myth is eating some will cause you to test hot. You would have to eat a huge amount to do that.

I have no idea what shows up on a hair test. If the case of a hair test I HIGHLY recommend buying this PRODUCT before you leave for orientation if you have taken any of the substances listed on that table above.

its highly unlikely that “a single pill, a single time”, would show up on a drug test no matter when it was taken. It’s actually pretty close to impossible it would meet the minimum to trigger a failure.
