Well I-80 in Wyoming is at it again. I’m quite thankful for these weather apps. I’m taking the long way around via I-70, wind is slapping trucks around up on Elk Mountain. Was completely shut earlier today, now just light and high profile. Sensors registered 70-80’s for wind gusts!!

I guess my truck doesn’t like going home for the holidays, I was in a loner at thanksgiving, and I’m in a loaner to get me home for Christmas. Put my truck in the shop in Council Bluffs this morning for an oil change and get the fuel filter replaced. I’m sitting in the drivers lounge talking to another driver, and the mechanic and shop foreman walk in, the mechanic has a spring and several broken pieces of plastic in his hand. I’m thinking this isn’t good news. When the mechanic went to take off the oil filter housing and opened it up, several broken pieces of plastic and spring were laying inside the filter housing. The whole housing needs to be replaced, they can do it at our shop, but need to get the part shipped in, and it was going to be a several hour job. So thankfully I’m in loaner headed home. Have I mentioned recently I will be glad when this year is over?

Was headed to Topeka with my Quickie load, but got halfway between KC and STL and my dm calls me to turn around and drop that load in Gateway dropyard in East STL. Head to Edwardsville IL for chewy.com to Salisbury NC. This may not end so well. 8pm drop tomorrow nite. 483 miles away in Oak Grove KY.

Coming back out this morning. Got my Load info to live load at 1300 just 20 miles away. Awesome!!! I get there and the finally give me a door. Couple hours later and they bring out the BOLs... and placards... uhm... placards?
Seems to be a miscommunication some where... (I don’t have my HazMat)... discussion ensues ... I call DM, they transfer me to Safety... I guess it’s legal for me to run with up to 1,000 lbs of this stuff... ok, but I’m loaded with 44k.
So I go I’m to tell the Shipper that we have to unload my trailer and contact the Broker.
They quickly put me under another load... BD from Sumter to Indy... so after a slight delay I’m back up and running.
So do we do much HazMat here? Is it worth getting my HazMat endorsement for times like this? I think I remember someone saying we do have a customer with product that requires a Tanker Endorsement but not sure if I've heard much about needing HazMat. -
