I could have it as its just a matter of $300 and some forms but right now I want to concentrate on learning the lanes and getting everything else done right without the concerns of keeping up with all the added paperwork involved. Also with minimum recent experience my new leasor is putting me on his insurance till I get the time in to get cheaper insurance myself. That alone will save me several thousand per year. And allow me to run 48 states rather than being under the 500mi rule with my current insurance.

Yep yep still chugging along. Waiting for the harvest to end to buy a nicer trailer. Kinda worried once harvest is over pay will drop way down. However, I am actually enjoying this work, I feel much more like a dump truck operator than an OTR type driver lol.

Ended up putting the truck, and trailer in the shop late Thurs afternoon, so I have lost a day of pay there. But, its a good deal overall. Was able to get the trailer into Larrys at the same time for new pass side brakes, its done already. Hopefully the truck will be done later today (Sat) so I will be ready to roll again Monday.

I see a lot of grain haulers parked at the old Mel Hamilton dealership on North Broadway is that a company or just a bunch of independents parked their? I also saw a lot of new equipment in the Wichita area yesterday pulling hoppers mostly new Pete 389's. I see Charles Holmes replaced his entire fleet with new Kenworth T800's. I think I will go buy me a hopper and chase Wheathauler and Kansas around and see how it is done. lol

I don't know if you can protect a new trailer. Seems like the trailer gods want that trailer to have a scratch in it right away. That seems to happen to me anyway.

Hope you get your truck back today.

Rates usually go down after harvest..but this year they didn't go up as much as previous years.

You need to chase those new trucks around they must know where the big money is. I evidently haven't found it yet. Holmes used to have all internationals. I don't know who is parking at that dealership haven't been by there in a while.

Both I believe, there is a sign in that parking lot that says "truck parking spaces for rent". I almost called to see what rent was $$, but found a better deal so there was no need.

Better follow Wheathauler, i'd just get ya lost. But hey, as he so graciously put it to me "always room for one more"

Pffffffffffffft. A bunch of annoying little crud. AC quit working, and I cant figure it out.

The air horn quit working, assume its just a solenoid.

The pass side windshield wiper arm failed, down under the hood, its actually just a ball and socket rubber washer, but VOLVO wont sell me that $2.00 part, but they will let me buy the entire $270 assembly, of course that doesnt include a new wiper motor, everything but.

The truck gets near overheating at idle, I have no manual fan switch, so I am having the mechanic install me one, hopefully that will get me through.

I figured instead of fighting with the truck all weekend trying to fix all this stuff, i'd run it to the mechanic and let them fix it in one shot. I told the guy I needed it back before Monday, as its now 230 Saturday afternoon and I haven't received a phone call. I really hope I didnt make a bad decision! We are supposed to work late on Monday...

The rail shuttle that was built at Adair this year, I think it was said if they get it loaded in 15 hours or less, they get a discount on the rate. That's 110 cars. They loaded their first train last week, it took 3 days, but not completely their fault, the power was out in that area almost all day Tuesday. I think the 110 car number is so they don't have to unhook the train, or add any other cars from somewhere else. The train crew goes to a motel, and the loading crew runs the locomotives while their loading.

I used to see Johnson trucks hauling into Beardstown a few years ago, don't anymore because of their rail facility. That's great, cause they had a bunch of trucks. Just theirs alone would cause a big line.
