I have created a few threads and read over other threads on the LTL subforum, and everyone only says good things about being an OTR LTL driver, and nobody says any negative things about being an OTR LTL driver as opposed to an OTR non-LTL driver. If LTL was so great, I would think that everyone would want to drive LTL, and the demand for LTL drivers would decrease, along with the pay of LTL drivers decreasing.

So what are the disadvantages of being an OTR LTL driver as opposed to being an OTR non-LTL driver?

Nights and weekends are probably the biggest downsides at first to LTL road jobs. Some LTL’s mostly run the road weeknights but many are 24/7. Some people are happy with what they have and never strive for anything else and that doesn’t make them any less of a driver. I personally don’t know why anyone would live in a truck, be gone for weeks at a time with one day off for every six worked when you could be home most days/nights, sleep in your bed or a hotel and generally make more money. However it is a big world and not everyone has the same interests and needs in life. Some people see a daycab as a bad thing. I built a daycab a few years ago and I could have ordered a sleeper if I wanted one.

It sounds like you are talking about the pickup & delivery side of LTL trucking. I'm asking about being an OTR LTL trucker.

Do OTR LTL truckers typically drive daycabs?

The pickup and delivery side of LTL is not OTR as you asked. Those drivers punch in and pickup and deliver freight and then they punch out and go home. The Road drivers are the OTR side of LTL and it is generally regional and not truly OTR. Having been involved with this business for 33 years I completely understand your question.

Well, if you completely understand my question, why don't you answer it?

You could only ascertain that if we were communicating audibly.

Not necessarily, maybe someone else can help you because I can’t do you any good.

    you just did 2 things.

    1. psychological projection.
    2. and ad hominem argument. attacking the person instead of their argument. not a good way to win argument btw. usually people who lose arguments resort to it to try to cheese their way to sounding more viable.

That is exactly why I said at the end of the conversation maybe someone else can help him because I can’t. Can you try to answer his questions? Or would you rather come for me? Also we were not in an argument, or a debate but a conversation where one side clearly didn’t understand the answer, but choose to say “well if you understand my comment, why don’t you just answer it”. I did answer his question, but he didn’t understand it and became sarcastic. Take your psychological assessment elsewhere.
