Got up early Saturday morning and left as soon as my 34 hour reset was in the books. Had an uneventful drive North and made it to the customer 5 minutes early. I really wish it had been daytime while I drove up there. The road was along the Ohio river and I would have liked to see more scenery. The delivery went ok with only a short delay for lab work.

I got tankwashed for Merrit Island Pa with a message to stay with the wash..joy joy. It only took them about 3 hours. I already had a load headed to Nashville Tn delivering Wednesday morning at 05:00. Since I had an empty tank I decided to take 68 up to our Karns City terminal. I had only been there a couple of times. The road in is real hilly comming off of I-80. Other drivers had told me it was worse down 68. I wanted to see for myself. They were right but its really no problem empty. I went the long way around loaded the next morning.

I shut down for the night in Franklin Ky about 65 miles from my delivery point. Got up the next morning and my truck wouldn't crank. It was a cooler night so I hadn't idled. I did leave my cooler on but that has never drained the battery before. It made me about an hour late. Fortunately they backed me right in and here I sit waiting for the lab to approve my load. I just got a tank wash message for High Point so I guess they are sending me home. Looks like that breakdown may keep me from getting home today if they don't get me unloaded by 10:00 AM. Not looking good so far.

Got a call today from TM in Wilmington, I'm hired so giving my two week notice on friday. Both excited and nervous about switching from flatbedding to Tank yankin. Already met the guy who is going to train me seems likea nice guy. said he's been with Superior 13 years. Everyone seems real nice at the Wilmington terminal. Thanks to all who answered my questions

Good luck to you. Tanking will be lots easier than flatbedding physically. At least you don't have to sleep in the truck for training. I will probably see you around High Point eventually. Wilmington guys run our dedicated freight sometimes when it gets busy.

Panthers suck. Time to clean house, bench Delhomme and start over. Back to work with another snot load to San Antonio Tx to the same plant I have been to twice recently. Made good money both times. The second time they made me put half the load in another tank in another section of the plant. That was a pain.

I like this run though. Get to stretch out and just drive for a couple of days. Will end up in Pasadena midday Wednesday and I usually get good loads out of there. Might even get home for the weekend if they have a Mauldin SC Cognis load waiting for me.

Buffalo huh. Guys on Midnight Trucker were even making fun of the Panthers for losing to Bills. Get ready for some serious rain. It is totally soaked here in TX. And this stuff seems to be holding together as it heads E. Got almost 3" in 45 minutes last night at my shop. You could have left domes open and got a free tank wash. lol

Busy enough. Would like a leg stretcher run. I've been stuck on 660-mile runs w/delivery early the next morning. Barely time to take a whizz, yet alone a nap.

Seems the new logging is going well - haven't heard of anyone getting their pecker whacked. Sometimes you gotta use the inherent flaws of 1/4 hour grid to make things "work."

The recession is technically over :)

Good week. Ran it exactly as I planned it. Greensboro NC to San Antonio TX, unload then back to Houston. Got empty on Wednesday and made it over to the Pasadena terminal by 5:00 PM.

They had me planned to load at 8:30 AM Thursday in Houston with a load that delivered in Franklin Ky at 14;00 Friday. It looked like a pain in the ### to load. Had an off site scale and you had to weigh light, load, go back to the scale, weigh heavy, and drive back to the loading site to pick up paperwork. I checked it out on bing maps and the scale was at a large quarry type place. I couldn't see a truck scale anywhere on the pictures. I also found out the next day that the wrong shipper company name was on the travel order and that the name I actually needed was in small print on the Bill of laden. I found that out from a local driver the next day.

I got up Friday morning showered and got ready to leave around 7:00. When I pushed in my red and yellow buttons I heard massive air leaks and my air drained down to alarms. I could feel air rushing out at the back of the cab where the air lines connect. I called dispatch and they put a local driver on my load while the shop worked on my truck. I found out hanging out in the driver room that the mechanic who worked on my truck several weeks ago has a less than stellar reputation for work quality. He hooked the 2 glad hands together in front of me and I showed him where the leak was. We could both feel it. After he worked on it for a couple of hours he came back and told me nothing was wrong with the truck, that it must be with the trailer. He had the trailer number of the one I pulled in the day before. I told him that wasn't the trailer I was hooked to when it happened, that a local driver was loading it as we speak, and if it was the trailer it would have done to him as well. I then went to the shop supervisor who told me that guy had replaced the ail line connection unit with one off another truck. Everything worked but I plan to avoid this mechanic in the future. When experienced drivers out of this terminal use TA's and Petro's out on the road for repairs you know something isn't right.

Finally got my load around 12:30 feeling fortunate that I didn't have to hassle with loading it. I decided to run US 59 out of Houston up to I-30 around Texarkana to I-40 into Memphis. This was a tight delivery window and dispatch told me that if I couldn't get the load there by 14:00 that it would be refused. US59 is about 70 miles shorter to Memphis than running I-10, I-55 but has a lot of small towns with stop lights. I probably only ended up saving about 20 minutes since the moving average on my GPS was 52.9 MPH when I shut down for the night. There was also some pretty nasty thunderstorms. I actually pulled over into a small truck stop in Nacogdoches Tx for about 30 minutes when I heard the tornado sirens go off.

Friday I realized that my moving average had to be 60.9 MPH for me to get to the customer on time. That allowed no time for breaks and amounted to about 8 hours of driving. I made a couple of sandwiches for lunch so I could eat on the run. Made it to the customer with 15 minutes to spare and was lucky there were no traffic back ups.

When I got to the customer they put me with a guy who had not unloaded a truck for 20 years. It was a customer pump and about a 100 yard run through insulated pipe into their building. This product loaded at 240 degrees and was being unloaded at 220. I also found out I didn't need to rush since they were open 24 hours and the 3rd shift guy that came on at 15:00 knew more about unloading than this guy did. He signed off on my paperwork, we got hooked up and were able to get the pump going before 3rd shift got there. It wound up taking about 5.5 hours to pump it off because of the long uphill run and thick sticky product. This company makes scotch tape and I had an ingredient in the glue that goes on it.

Made it to the Flying J at exit 2 I-65 with 15 minutes to spare on my 14. Tankwashed home so I slept late and got home around 5:00PM Saturday.

Got a dedicated Holland Mi paint load for today. Hope it gets loaded and delivered to the yard by the local guy. Probably won't though.
