Well, I think I got it. Sixteen days with a 99.x low grade fever, with one spike up to 100.4. At first I thought it was caused by an infected gum (on a large mandibular tori), but after 10 days on antibiotics, the fever persisted.
I had no other symptoms—no cough, no runny nose, no motor cycle accidents—and I felt fine the entire time. My wife hasn’t caught the COVID, so maybe it’s just a FUO ( fever of unknown origin). I really didn’t care to blow $80 on an unreliable test, but if I give blood, they’ll test for the antigens for free.
Here’s the strange side effect. I really don’t care to drink alcohol anymore. I’ve been a bourbon and coke drinker my entire life, and yes, I drink more than my doctor is comfortable with. Coming home from a hard day of construction work, I’d have usually four drinks between 5 and 10 pm.
The doc asked me how much bourbon I put in each drink, and I said a “two fingers,” with my pointer and pinky fingers extended. He wasn’t very amused.
Now, if I think about a drink, I’m like, “meh.” If I have one drink, I’m “meh” to the thought of a second drink. Needless to say, the amount of alcohol I’ve been consuming has decreased quite a bit. I had a couple of spiked eggnogs Christmas eve, and a couple of b&c New Years Eve. I’m practically a teetotaler. I would call that a hidden benefit to the COVID.
I got the COVID and a strange side effect

Closest I am to trucking is pulling a 7x14 trailer everyday, and now I have to parallel park it behind my son’s truck, in between our travel trailer and driveway. GOAL! GOAL! And more GOAL!
Other things will drive me back to heavy drinking, though. Check out what a supposed trim carpenter did to some brand new interior doors.
This is on a condo remodel I’m running. The guy turned out to be a disaster. He beat the doors into place with a sledge hammer apparently.
The contractor fell for the Christmas eve “toys for my children” sob story and paid him in full ($1000 for five doors and ten sticks of baseboard) before I could get out there to look at his handiwork. Then the contractor had to pay another trim carpenter $65/hr to try to salvage everything.
I spent my Saturday morning mixing bondo and repairing his damage.

It’s truly amazing that he presented himself to the contractor as an experienced trim carpenter, but apparently couldn’t even watch a few youtube videos to get even the slightest clue on what to do.
He basically got paid $1000 to do $1000 in damage.John E., JoeyJunk, homeskillet and 1 other person Thank this. -

Basically if you don’t get sicker within 10-14 days from first getting covid, your good to go. My daughter just had it. She was getting tested twice a week, because she works in a hospital. Slight fever and headache, only missed 12 days of work while quarantining. Went back to work, got the vaccine first day back.
