Be careful brother thinking you've already learned the job. It's still a whole lot to learn, it's a matter of encountering certain situations then. You never really learn until you fly solo.

I get that man I really do. I understabd it is what I’m saying. Most people go out on their own a lot sooner than Prime and continue to learn but they survive. So would I.

I run for Old Dominion in the midwest and we hire with no experience. It's not the dock to driver program it's straight linehaul depending on the need for drivers.

They do survive, as did I. Don't mean I didn't have some growing pains, albeit painful ones, along the way. I actually dont fault Prime for going with 4 month/60k mile training, whichever it is. There were certain aspects about the job that didn't click for me until the 5 or 6 month mark. I was only with a trainer for a month. It takes several months for most rookies to shed the tendency of trying to alley dock back in every situation.....that's just one example. I do think that there are some road situations that help once you get to the LTL sector.

When you applied for and accepted the job at Prime, did you do so knowing what the criteria would be in order to become a solo driver (ie, did you know prior to orientation that it would be 60,000 miles)?

    bryan21384 Thanks this.

Absolutely. It is what it is and if I were going to stay in Longhaul OTR it would be just fine.
