I guess it's cheaper to maintain or something for a fleet

Actually according to him it's a bit expensive. Can take a loss on his taxes though!

No. I learned how to drive a manual transmission on my uncle's model A tractor. It had 2 sticks, and a little pup trailer.

AModelCat and Rubber duck kw Thank this.

Driveshaft. The tow truck driver have to disconnect it from the drive axles to tow or put the hook on the rear of the tractor to tow.

I spin wrenches for a living. I know exactly what you're saying. On that note though I see many drivers with poor habits that are out driving trucks and that stuff will eventually break a truck.

I’m sorry, but I’ve never heard it referred to as a prop shaft. Or the spinning shaft. And no. It does not have to be disconnected to tow a truck from the rear. In fact, that’s exactly why most tow guys will always try to tow from rear of tractor!
    Honestly, completely dumbfounded here.

The spinning shaft from the engine to the tires. My lord. I’m getting my popcorn out.
