Scania v8? Do you mean the 16.4L 998 cube? Scania uses the V8 block from mack. The rest of the stuff, heads etc was scania parts. Mack/scania had a tight knit partnership back in the day.

 

On my way down through Florida yesterday I seen a couple really nicely redone old XLs.

Seems like I mostly see them in Florida

Pretty sure it’s the Cuban population see’s the value in them compared to a 900 or 379.

 

A large sleeper with a kitchen. Unfortunately that won't work for most of the places I pick up and deliver.

This. I'm 6'3", 235 lbs, and large all around. Volvos have, by far, the best seats and interiors.

 

I noticed at the end of a driving period, wasn't nearly as tired or stressed as before the Volvo.
Roomy interior, comfortable seats, smooth ride as in a luxury automobile, automatic transmission.

Question: How do those compare to a similarly specced Ford LTL 9000?

 

Cost-saving engineers dictate most interior design now. Volvo still has comfort engineers.

I wish FL would borrow some of Mercedes' expertise in that department.

 

I wish we had European truck interiors...... drool over that Mercedes interior

 

i own my perfect truck and ill die with it. Nothing finer than a 379er. ITs old, has a real dash, lots of gauges, smells old, sounds old, looks old, a little black smoke, gets crappy mileage but dam that cat sounds good and pulls hard and love running them gears. I guess im getting old but i would quit driving if i had to drive one of those quiet new aged oversized schoolbuses with automatic. Wheres the fun in trucking with that.
