Can I get a copy of a fuel receipt from the truck stop?

My driver today needed fuel and did not have a corporate credit card, so he used his own and gave me what I thought was a receipt for $300. I gave him $300 cash.

Later, after some thinking I realized that 1) this is a preauthorization, not the receipt and 2) his tank is 100 gallon, can only be filled to 95% capacity, and had some fuel in it already and 3) fuel near Chicago is under $3 per gallon. So how it can be actually $300?

I asked him about it and he claims that he did not take a receipt, used up all preauthorization money and it was more than 100 gallons. I cannot see how it could make sense, so I want to go to that truck stop tomorrow to get the actual receipt.

My question is, if I have the preauthorization on hand, and ask the truck stop for a copy of the actual fuel receipt, will they be able to get one for me? What if they gave the driver a copy already (which he claims not to have), will they be able to print a second copy?

 

Guys, I understand and share your sentiments.

But I want to have solid proof, and that's why I wanted to get to that truck stop and get a receipt. Accusing people of stealing money is toxic and I would prefer to have all the evidence. So, anyone knows if I can get a duplicate?
