Wasn't the use of the Stimulus Funds and other associated Programs meant for Folks that have lost their jobs and were suffering Economic Hardships due to fallout from the Virus? Paying off Equipment with these Funds hardly seems to be the purpose of the Government Programs

"Besides, most people don't realize that they'll owe taxes on that money at some point."
You mean millions and millions of people will have to pay taxes on the stimulus money they received? Where did you read that? -
*Disclaimer* I did not use PPP money I received to buy or pay off equipment. I used it to pay myself payroll during a downturn due to Covid. All legally documented and filed with the Feds in lieu of the forgiveness clause included in the terms of the program.

Why does a successful business person need to take a " forgivable" loan in the 1st place? Was Ur Business down due to the Virus or personal choice?
DeereRunner97, p608, D.Tibbitt and 3 others Thank this. -
FWIW, I could have applied for and received an SBA loan for my company, but I didn't need it. My grand-dads would have jumped out of their graves and kicked my butt.Last edited: Jan 15, 2021

In other news, loads are picking up a bit here in the west, but the rates are down to pre-pandemic levels. Most of the loads in my normal lane to the PNW from NorCal are hovering around the $2 per mile mark down from $3-$5 in November. Retirement looks more appealing by the day.
