    "someone tipped off the police"....

i know pipe bombs are of course illegal. i do not know californias laws on gun ownership, so just by the story alone, i'd say the guns must be registered?

but ammo? i think as far as actual ammo, in my opinion, i can't see why they'd be "interested" in that too, unless CA has an ammo limit per house? per business (if not a gun store?)

i dunno...but "someone tipping off the police".......ought to start looking over his/her shoulder from now on.....

i just checked it out, apparently a "fee" must be paid for ammo for any caliber of gun you own and the gun is registered.

    sheesh.....

no land of the free out there.

Half of the fire arms were unregistered. Or they were illegal via other means,it could be as simple as having the serial number altered/filed off or having the wrong bump stock. California in general takes a hardline stance against assault rifles-they don’t want anyone having more firepower than SWAT does.

The only time I could see somebody needing 15,000 rounds of ammo is if you have “Old Painless”!!!lol

the thing is this....many of us go to the range either indoors or out, and practice our skills. it is also a lot of fun too. there is an ammo shortage right now, and what ammo IS available is super high priced. for instance, back in late January of 2020, when i started this sport/hobby myself, i was actually already buying ammo, and not aware of the upcoming apocalypse that we are in now..

i was buying 9MM ammo (before i got into .45 ACP) at 1,000 rounds for under $169.00

now, try and buy 250 rounds for under $500.00....!!!!!!!!

not gonna happen with people even newbies like me, to empty my bank account... many people do thier own ammo reloading, which actually, before i checked this thread a few seconds ago, i was looking at reloading presses and thier prices, and right now, all out of stock.. reloading ammo can cost money too, BUT, you save your own spent casings, and reload those. the price of your ammo drops drastically.

i am not one of those apocalypse preppers, but many more certainly are. when the prices of ammo go through the roof, as like right now, to have ammo "stocked up", makes sense, especially too, if the components needed like, gun powder, bullets, primers are also out of stock.

think of 15,000 rounds of ammo for the sport/survivalist's/ person as what a few different bowling balls, or bowling shoes is to the sport of bowling, or the slew of softball and hardball bats are to the ball players.

or the paints, glues, files, sandpaper, filler are to the hobbyist model builder.

in other words, it's just a part of the sport/hobby

i chat with some guys on the various gun websties, that have well over 50,000 rounds of various ammo, for various guns, rifles that they have.

i know to some, that even maybe 500 rounds is WAY TOO MUCH ammo to have on hand....

then again......several cases of toilet paper........is WAY TOO MUCH TOO.....isn't it..????

none of mine are registered and that is legal in NC. pistols, long guns and ammo for each.

so why "assume" not registered is illegal.

I know people that would never let there ammo stock get that low. 2 to 3 times that would be about right. I don't have anywhere close to that but I wish I did. These days you can't have too many guns or too much ammo.

But apparently POOPING, or Throne Management, is a much more common hobby here in the US than practicing gun skills.

Gotta have a nice stockpile of that supersoft triple ply Charmin!
