Thanks for posting this, while I’m late coming to c4fm, it is interesting to say the least, radio without the radio waves.

This seems like an attempt to keep the Ham Hobby relative in today's world of the Mighty Internet.

    An interesting process.

But the question is: who needs all the extra radio equipment. Just buy a computer and get on Facebook or Twitter or a Forum or whatever the hell they're using now :-?

I can't speak for other operators, nor do I know what everyone else is running, but there is no extra equipment on my end. My FTM-400 is connected directly to my lap top with the supplied cable.

Well, in my smartazz way I was asking, why stick a radio in between you and the Internet?

    Or vice versa.

In my case because the radio is capable.. I had no intentions of working digital when I bought the rig I bought it for 2m only.
As for Yaesu I have no idea who came up with the concept or why they did it.. :???:

That would be neat to try. I've used Echolink before, but not this.
