I agree 100%. I struggle with not doing what needs to be done even if to prove a point. I love to argue and make others do their jobs, but it was Friday and I only had enough time to make it back to terminal. So I guess you can say I gave in, which is unlike me LOL

It's hard to say what would really slow turnover. Every driver has different needs and expectations. Also, many drivers are always looking for the "next best thing." That may be true for society in general. That being said, it doesn't take much for me to remain loyal to a company. I am an OTR driver, and one that likes to burn up the highways. Me personally, I don't care about sign on bonuses and all the other bells and whistles. I want to know what to expect each week on my check. I need to drive for a company with good, well maintained equipment, great freight base/relationships, 2500 miles minimum per week with cpm wage that at least matches the average of the industry. I don't too much care about home time, but if I get burned out and need to take a break, it needs to happen because I'll stay out a month or more sometimes. Good insurance is important too. I just like working somewhere where I can make good, steady money. That way, I'll know what i can count on.

Or assuming you know your stuff, a trailer inspection costs 5$ and since youre qualified "by means of experience" slap the sticker on there and run the derned thing. But different companies, different rules i guess.

Tailor the operations to each drivers needs and most will stay put.
I.E. get the ones that want to be home often home.
Keep the ones who want to run west out there.
Problems with an individual or two..don't enact a coverall policy just deal w the offending parties.

Hire experienced competent people and meet their needs.

And don't lie to your drivers..
Nothing you can do to lose respect and credibility faster than lie to them.

    Qualified won't cut it.
    Certified is where it's at.
Don't bail out the company for free.
Also has to be done and signed by a licensed mech and I believe the wheels have to come off.

Wheels don't have to come off, but it does have to be done by a certified tech.

I would never do that. Plus this was one of our oldest trailers, 14 years old to be exact. It needs the “proper” inspection and that guy ain’t me.
