What is it about cryo and inward facing cameras? I don't get it.

I think it's a liability issue. Everyone of the large industrial gas companies is fortune 500 and look like easy marks since most would probably just settle any suit and pay 20K as bat an eye, and cameras can limit that. Also each trailer is a quarter million dollars and if someone or something is responsible for damage to one they want to recover $$
Also imho they hire only experienced and well seasoned drivers for the most part
( although lately..) and they want to make sure you are doing what you're well paid to do and nothing else.
Caught w a phone once and it's a warning, second time you're out.
Check out the safety/ inspection scores of the big three, I think they are trying to maintain those.

Airgas, Praxair, Matheson, and Messer are all about micromanaging through the drive cam. Let them tell it they are making the driver a better and a safer one by critiquing you base off camera events. Or suspension or termination due to texting or phone use. Even if the phone is just sitting on your thigh let them tell it your using it.

There have been a great deal of drivers quit these companies because of driver facing cameras. However Air Products doesn't screw over their drivers with drive cam.

    Mostly full of hot air..
I've been shown a camera event when it takes a shot for the space between vehicles.
I say I can only control one vehicle.
The next thing they'll tell you that you take too long this or that..
I tell em it takes what it takes.
I treat the critique like water off a ducks back.
We have literally 0% turnover due to driver decision.
And with us specifically it's more about our particular management team than anything else..you see the mgmt teams year end bonuses are based on how cheap they are and these guys are cheap.
The boss one year was to replace a rusted beam on a fuel island canopy and he wanted to cut out and weld in a 18" section..lol. Was told it would cost more.

Whew, man what are you talking about. Soooo many ppl say that its a horrible way to run a company. I quit Linde after the terminal manager didn't want to pay me for my time of three weeks on rest and roll.

They go above and beyond to save every penny possible. To include not paying for different events. Hell I here the current TM at the Houston yard won't pay for certain things. And when a driver brings it up. It might get paid 4 to 6 weeks later.

The guy is so cheap he stopped ordering Gatorade in the summer time. Stopped ordering food during safety meetings. And stopped drivers from getting the trucks washed.

I wished there was another way they could get there bonus. But most companies use the carrot in front of the donkey method.

Hell the prax TM in deer park got fired for constantly screwing guys out of different pay for x and z. And the called HR on him so much that they investigated a few events and axed him. Now the drivers are happy since the terminal is being ran sinceable.

There was another TM at a company in H-town the had the same technique. The drivers absolutely hated him. So someone broke in his truck and stole his gun. Mind you there are signs on the gate that say no firearms. So the TM called to police. Then the drivers called HR to tell them the story.

So HR got the report from the police and confronted the manager. He couldn't deny that he broke company policy about the gun on the property. So he got fired on the spot.

My guess it's a great way to screw drivers out of safety bonuses lol. But seriously, it's nothing to worry about. Just don't ever touch your phone while driving. No hands free devices allowed either.
