Not the most exciting video but I happened to witness this bonehead driver get pulled over last night for not putting on chains

That's what I was going to say. He might be someone that doesn't want to ruin his chains running on bare pavement.

What you guys can't see in the video is the ice on the road. The chain control was justified.

The driver was doing about 20 mph with a huge line of cars behind him. Even in R1 conditions the speed limit is 35. This guy needed to get off the road.

I've never seen a truck chain up when pavement was visible, even if there was some icy patches.

Have you ever driven through walker canyon?
Either way it was R1 conditions. It's not up to him at that point. If he didn't wanna chain up he should've just parked it.

Never have, but it can't be much different than Canada.

The way this guy was driving I'm willing to bet he didn't have any experience driving in snow and ice. He seemed pretty scared. He didn't even wanna pull over for CHP

So, what your saying is since the driver was doing a “safe speed” for the conditions he should still have to pull over because he is not doing the speed limit?

There are many times I’m doing 35mph, with no chains, going past Mecham, OR. The chain signs require you to carry chains. But by your reasoning I should be doing 65mph the trucker speed limit?

Typical california , throw chains up for 2 snowflakes ... road looks fairly dry...
