Watsonville, CA could use a Loves- major produce distribution hub, major lack of parking. There is a PFJ in Salinas but I'm pretty sure there is more than enough demand for another truckstop in Watsonville. In the produce growing region south of the Bay area all the truck stops are over on I-5, leaving a 1.5-3 hour drive to many of the shippers & receivers. There are a few privately owned ones, like the one in Gilroy which is kind of an exception as it has quite a bit of parking. Most other private ones have little if any parking out that way.

Used to be parking alongside the fields but last time I went over there they had plowed it up right to the road to grow veggies.

I agree, the rotation of the same 6 mega corps food outlets gets old. Leasing the space to a local outfit that already has a strong following and is looking to expand might be a win/win. They would just need a vetting process or could wind up in a bad situation. Presumably the consistency and plug and play nature of the mega fast food chains makes it easier.

There is a chain of breakfast places called Big Bad Breakfast that started out in Oxford, MS that rocks, they should talk to those guys.

    Bigbadbreakfast.com if anyone is interested.

That's a shame. I had an excellent meal the other day at an Iron Skillet in WY. Hand breaded chicken fried chicken with fresh (not canned) green beans and the soup also tasted homemade. Waitress said the Chicken fried steak was a premade frozen hockey puck style but chicken was breaded in the kitchen.

IHOP is totally corporatelandia food. Replacing IS with IHOP is a major downgrade in my book.

A new Loves is set to open in St Charles MN soon, x233 off I-90--across the interchange from the Sinclair truck stop. The lines are already painted on the truck parking pad, so I'm guessing it'll be up and running by this time next month.

What a relief, too, because if I-90 across the bottom of MN ain't about one of the most barren stretches of freeway in this entire country...

You need to look closer. There are many places between Ft Stockton and El Paso.
And that is not considering the stops at Van Horn. They aren't majors but have fairly large parking lots and most have some kind of cafe nearby.

The Traveling Tiger at exit 87 has a big lot. Used to be mostly empty but has been discovered by the hordes who park wherever they feel like.
