Legal to withhold down payment for insurance

    Is it legal to keep a down payment on insurance if the insurance is cancelled?

    I have a company I am leased onto that is refusing to refund an insurance down payment they charged me.

    Why would you make any insurance payment to them? Should be covered by the % they get.

    you can give up a % for them to pay it, or pay it and get the % I’m sure, all just depends how the contract is written out, which is what we need to answer this question

    I asked that question to my agent years ago(not leased) she said they would prorate/adjust to what is due back to you, but it’s a process and can take up to 2 months.
