It is about assembly time, probably saves 15 minutes per truck. Just plug in one big connector and done.
Bye Bye legacy dash...peterbilt is going all digital.

How long will it be before brakes and steering are fly by wire, just like an airliner?
I can just see that advanced level of engineering being repaired by the minimum wage types at the average truckstop.
You know they have the same training as an A+P mechanic over at American Airlines....Speed_Drums Thanks this. -

Strong rumors have been going on within Rush headquarters down here that Pete is going to phase out the hood once the 389 runs its course. They are going to get away from the classic cab. I believe this new dash debacle is just a step to run off sales or get hood fans used to the transition to no hood. You will start to see more changes like this towards that way with the 389. The steering wheel already did and Peddles will change to an uncomfortable car like setup soon. Autos will be pushed hard. Even to o/o’s.

It’s not the stupidest thing Paccar has done. Anybody remember the 2-3 years that KW didn’t build the w900 in the late 80’s early 90’s because the T600 was the future and everyone would buy those instead?
