Hey all, I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have read a bunch of old threads about this but was wondering if there was any latest and greatest info on the best flash for my engine and what it is capable of with stock parts.

I have a 3406E 5EK 84906 with perf spec 128-6573, core ar 128-5403, fls -30, fts 20. It says it is a 475hp 490hp max but was wondering what it could be flashed up to with the stock parts. I had the computer read and it is at the 475hp now. I was told it would run strong with a 550hp off-road file but didn't know if that was the best file for safe power with decent fuel mileage for this engine or if there was a better tune to flash it with.
Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 1997 5EK that was 550 from the factory. It's an OK motor but it won't run with my 2WS or my 6NZ which are also factory 550 rated. All three trucks are W900L's with studio sleepers, 18sp and 3.55 rears so it's a pretty good comparison.

Thanks 34kw. I was more looking for the best flash for my engine for what it can handle. I figure it has the forged crowns, decent size turbo and injectors enough th flash it to a higher hp file without issues, I just wanted to know if there was a file/custom tune available that people know is a great tune for this engine.

You'd have to find someone to run the engine serial number to find out for sure but I think the lower hp 5ek might have all aluminum pistons or something that limits what you should run for HP. I think, could be way off
