    Hi,
I’m looking for opinions and advice. I currently run a galaxy 94hp. Its had a peak and tune. It’s a great radio and I have no complaints. But I just got a brand new Pete 389. I’m thinking this might be a good time to upgrade to a 98vhp in the new Pete and move the 94 into a different truck which I’ve been wanting to upgrade for a while anyway. I would also get the 98 peak and tuned when I purchase it.

One question I have is how much better will the 98 perform? The specs on galaxies website shows it having twice the power on ssb, but the same on AM. I do enjoy trying to shoot skip on 38 lsb, but most of the time I’m on AM. So will a peaked 98 perform any better than a peaked 94 on AM.
My other question is on durability. I’m assuming the 98 is basically the same radio as the 94, just with a bigger heat sink. So I’m wondering if the 98 is more likely to fail because it is being pushed closer to the limit.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

I 2nd what ridge says....Work on any antenna issues that will come up 1st....
Yes its nice to have a brand fire new kick in the butt radio an all but a killer radio and crap antenna set up will eventually hurt the radio...
You will do better with a cobra 29 and a killer antenna set up vs a 98vhp and factory crappy ant set up..
