Well runningman, if you go back to page 30 something in this thread I added to it saying I was coming to FCC. and shortly retracted that statement.

3 years later I’ve made the decision again. I’ll be in Fremont in 3 weeks to go flatbedding. I’ve finished up pre orientation and orientation online today. Just waiting on flatbed training to be added to the learning page.

i still thank this thread as a huge reason in making this choice. And hopefully I can add some to this, but for the ones interested in flatbed.

Congratulations! I know a few drivers on the flatbed side, and they seem to enjoy it. The nice thing about the flatbed side is that if things slowdown over there they give you the option to hook to a van until the open deck freight picks back up. Some guys do it, and others will flat out refuse to hook to a van. IMO miles are miles, and I would be as versatile as possible. Even if you hook to a van occasionally you will still be paid the flatbed rate.

Once you get over here please post your experience from the flatbed perspective.

Don't the open deck drivers make a little more per mile? Wonder if they let them stay at the same rate if they move a van load

drivers dropping trailers that need repaired or other issues is getting ridiculous ! I picked up a trailer a while back that had pieces of a blown tire wrapped around the air lines laying , on the trailer axles and etc I took photos of it and sent them to my dm
Then I picked up a empty trailer that had the Electric pigtail completely busted off the front of the trailer . Yes I know it could’ve been the shag driver
And Now I just picked up a loaded trailer from the CB yard And the passenger side mudflap is half ripped off and the bracket for the mudflap is ripped from the frame and the driver side of the trailer the mudflap is pushed against the tires and the Bracket for the mudflap on that side is half ripped off the frame to

I have said for a while that one needs to change about this crap is start paying the drivers for the downtime that results in having to go to the shop and get this stuff repaired and the money that is paid to the driver for doing it having it deducted from the driver who drop the trailer like that when it is very obvious Like the mudflap & the mudflap bracket at the yard..

Work had me take the trailer to TA in Council Bluffs and they said they won’t touch it due to the amount of damage and said it has to go to a trailer shop
So then Work sends me to Sap Brothers in Council Bluffs and They can’t get to it till tomorrow morning so I got to set here rest of the day .

I agree. Dispatch knows who dropped, it at least at company yards. Hostlers are famous for IDGAF, but tires and mud flaps are 95% on the last driver in my opinion.

Gimme a break , as a Yard Dog we fire guys for tearing up equipment.
We also hired full time security to check trailers in and out , that put a end to the shenanigans.
We do a pre trip , pre cool before we load your trailer , any defects we red tag your trailer and it sits.

    dwells40 Thanks this.
