I've got a 2015 D13 and I'm losing fuel prime completely randomly. Did it at 12 degrees out on a cold start, then 3 days later at 60 degrees after sitting two hours and today at 50 degrees after sitting an hour.

I changed all cups about 100k miles ago and replace a cup and injector just last week. It doesn't seem to be cup related.

When the check valve fails can it act intermittent like this? Any certain places I should look where air may be entering?

well if you replaced all cups than you replace injectors as well, it could be fuel filter housing causing this or also maybe need to open up and look at injectors again fuel valves either fail or dont nothing in between.

It's happened 3 times in a week now, but hasn't happened at all for about 4 days now and the truck is running great. It's pretty bizarre. No codes either.

the only other thing i have seen is a few times is a broken injector doin exactly same thing like what you are descrbing and it makes the problem when it feels like.

    Broken as in physically broken?

If that's the case if it happens again I'll have to open it up again and check them all.

did you do this job yourself or a shop? I replaced the cups not the injectors, problem went away for a couple of days and came back with hard starting, Changed the pressure valve at front of engine and no difference, pressurized the fuel system with air in tank and found no leaks. Looked in fuel tanks while truck running and saw air bubbles meaning the cups or injectors are the culprit. Before I did the cups, the truck would start every time no problem, tried for 3 days. Went ahead and changed them anyways. If you have good power under load, I would just install an electric fuel pump for priming before starting truck, similar to a cummins with electric lift pump but you can get one and install inline anywhere, almost. Hope helps.

I did them myself. This time around I just did the one injector and cup because I only got the code for that injector going bad. It hasn't happened now for a few weeks. I'm pretty confused as to what caused it now because the trucks been running great since then.
