Bull haulers/Cattle haulers doing 80-90mph

I’ve never had a problem with bull haulers. I try to stay out of their way and far away from the smell or spray.

I know they drive slower when they are empty. I’ve never had one tail gate me for miles wondering if they should pass. They pass and go about their business.

Personally I would not want that kind of responsibility.

 

I hauled raw milk mostly around Michigan Indiana Illinois Wisconsin sometimes Tennessee or Missouri.

Did that for 15 months full time. Got scaled 3-4 times total , one of the times over on my steers, always waved through the whole time. Never ever any inspections either.

So I do believe that agriculture industry gets Cut a break most of the time.

Though Michigan State boys caught 3 of us milk haulers in a row coming up the end of 31 and gave all of us a 10 over ticket.

My company I worked for owned a fairly decent sized farm And was hauling milk for many other farms not to mention the big one off 65 in Indiana

Anyways we had one truck and guy who ran a xl Western 4900 with a C-15 that hauled the cows.

Super nice guy and always giving my stupid newbie azzz pointers out at the farm.

But they were always recruiting a team driver to run with him. Spoke with one of the guys on our team that did.

Serious Running and speed limits be damnnned.

 

This is a NotCal truck. Driver is Bud. 700 HP to the wheels ISX. He's forgotten more about trucking than most people will ever know.

He was leading a pack of about 6 bull wagons that went by me Saturday like I was tied to a tree.

 

That truck in the above post.......he has a pretty complete yard, you could rebuild a truck there. He spends more time with the trailer and the decking it seems than the truck.

He's 30 years livestock and grain, has a dozen trailers.

And he says the same thing most of us do, he still gets it shoved in his ### from time to time.

 

The old RR bridge at fm 310 on us 183. Just like the one in Lampassas before they re-routed trucks around it.

 

That's the one, my dad actually took some bales out in it one day lmao. He'd just got done an hour earlier reminding my uncle not to take that route.

 

Even the good ones have a run in once in a while. This gentleman killed 31 cows this week after hitting an elk near Georgetown summit on 30 here in Idaho.

Subsequently, the vehicle rolled off the left shoulder. The trailer was loaded with approximately 90 cattle and 31 of them died at the scene of the crash. "

 

I hooked on to a pot for 2 weeks, took forever to hit 70 and I don't think I hit 4mpg doing it. I said the hell with this and went back to my lowly hopper.

 

Dang thats just a bad day for everybody involved...

 

I wonder if they found the elk? Front end looks pretty good for elk strike.

I’m not questioning that driver’s word on wether or not he hit an elk. I’m just wondering if hitting an elk has another meaning.
