I like the looks of it too. I bought the truck, I bought the trailer, it’s not illegal so I figured I’d put some lights on it.

No matter how many people you cause discomfort to? Seems a bit selfish to me. But there plenty of trucks out there with lights too bright from all the crap coming from China. Why do you like a trailer with a dozen lights on it when the factory never does this? If it were needed they would. You just want everyone to look at you?

Have you never customized anything?? Anything?

I put more lights on my truck and trailer for a number of reasons.
    #1.. I can
#2.. being more visible is rarely a bad thing, a 53ft trailer is only required to have 3 lights on the side. To me thats not enough, to much empty space that could be mistaken for something other than a long trailer if conditions are poor.
#3.. I like the way it looks. I run primarily at night and yes I like to be seen and noticed, even though I run rural and rarely see many other trucks.
Its kind of like my custom shifter and seat on the floor, I like it and don't care if others don't.

And I dont see how more lights makes my trailer brighter or at least bright enough to bother. Yes there's more light but not brighter light.

Can DOT put you out of service for a non-working chicken light?

No. Cant even give you a ticket, Only required lights must be working. I don’t even turn on my chicken lights during an inspection.

It’s funny the jealosy and envy of some folks against chicken lights.
I’m one that loves them, installs them, and I even have a feeling of pride come over me when I see someone else lit up better and brighter than me.
Even if they have a 100 more then me it gives me a great feeling of pride when someone does them tastefully and is out there representing for the industry in a positive way and brightening up the dirty highways.

The lights down the side of my trailer are factory, does that make them ok for you?

Sone of us take pride in stuff that has our name on the title. I don’t care what you do with your truck so I don’t get why you care what others do with theirs. And if your eyes are that sensitive maybe driving isn’t for you.

The picture you posted had the ground lit up like a floodlight. Are you telling me that is factory? Most lights I can deal with if they don't emit more than a normal running light, but most guys in these old POS Peterbilts have them as bright as brake lights. And don't get me started on those annoying Jakes. And as far as my vision it is fine, until I have to look at a circus like trailer. I have to look at it, not you. So keep your advice in perspective.

The new LED lights are the worst. Another thing......those LED light bars on all of the Cruisers and Emergency Vehicles are effing BLINDING!!! Particularly when there are 10 or 15 of them at an accident scene. They are so disorienting when coming up on them, it is often times practically impossible to figure out which side of the freeway they are on and to even see the lane you are supposed to be in.
